Actually ate here twice on our recent visit to Heidelberg. Once for dinner and the next day for lunch. Excellent vegetarian food served quickly.

Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, Heidelberg's most famous poet, once wrote, "Mahmoud we love your Food, in every Mood, even in the Nude, it tastes so "Guuuuude", you're an awesome Dude."
I love poetry. Especially about food. So inspiring!
I was buying a fountain pen at Lamy around the corner and they suggested I stop in to Mahmoud's for a bite. Glad I did.
Fresh and plentiful ingredients and toppings. Crunchy felafel. Flavorful curry infused shawarma. Chewy bread. 100% delicious.
Off the beaten path. Highly recommended. -

Solid. I got their chicken with halloumi sandwich which was surprisingly large. They also have free hot unsweetened tea. Small setting and limited seating.

One of the best meals I had when in Schwarzwald recently. The vegetarian falafel-plate was easily made into a vegan one (skip the halloumi and you got it) and it was a generous portion of different flavours and textures and freshly made, cripsy falafel. One glass of tea is included in the meal, that is very reasonably priced (around 8 euros). The pita bread and the hummus were delightful too. Definitely worth a visit for a great and satisfying meal!

Somewhat hidden from the busy Haupstrasse, no frills, and laidback, Falafel is so good that my friends make almost-weekly gatherings there. The menu (hand-written on chalkboard and hung above the kitchen) is basic, the service is rushed but fast, but the food (falafel, hummus, babaganoush, tabouleh, etc etc etc) is tasty. And for that tastiness, it comes with an unbelievably cheap price (for Heidelberg standards). AND for that cheap price, one is entitled to one glass of hot tea for free.
If I lived near Falafel, I would go there almost daily!
